这两个词的语义不同，基本上没什么好混淆的吧？
　　　　Promote的意思是推广，如promote Chinese culture.
　　　　Promote还有升职的意思，如He was promoted last year. 他去年升职了。
　　　　Improve是进步，提高的意思，如improve my English proficiency，提高我的英语熟练度。如果换成promote my English proficiency，就变成了推广我的英语熟练度，说不通。
