这两个表达方式并不对等。
　　首先词组语法结构不对等。look out 是 动词+副词 词组，look after 是 动词+介词 结构。其次是在基本词义上不对等。look out 的意思是“小心”、“注意”（别出状况）；look after 的意思是“照顾......”、“看护......”。比较例句：
　　If you don't look out, you may fall on the ice. 如果不小心，你可能会在冰上滑倒。
　　He looked after his younger brother when his parents went on vacation. 他在父母外出度假时照看弟弟。
　　look out for 和 look after 是近义表达方式，可以换用。但这两个词组的深层含义是有一定区别的。look out for 含“照看......不要出状况”之意，而 look after 则指提供帮助、满足需求的意思，当然也包括不出状况。因此后者比前者词义涵盖面更为广泛。例：
