racial, gender 和 intellectual都是on any grounds（以任何理由）中any grounds进行具体说明的同位语,等于后面省略了grounds（复数表示“借口/理由”）,即on racial grounds(以种族为理由), gender grounds (以性别为理由) or intellectual grounds(以智力为理由).Gender 本身是名词,同时也可以用作定语形容词修饰另外一个名词.事实上,racial 和 intellectual 也都是定语形容词.如：
