Read the passage carefully. Then answer the questions or plete the statements in the fewest possible words.
Hidden deep in our subconscious is an idyllic(牧歌般的,田园诗式的)vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out the windows, we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of children waving at a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corn and wheat, of flatlands and valleys, of mountains and rolling hillsides, of city skylines and village halls. But uppermost in our minds is the final destination. On a certain day at a certain hour, we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flags waving. Once we get there, so many wonderful dreams will e true and the pieces of our lives will fit together like a pleted jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, damning the minutes for hanging around—waiting, waiting, waiting for the station. “When we reach the station, that will be it!” we cry. “When I’m 18.”; “When I buy a new 450SL Mercedes Benz!”; “When I put the last kid through college.”; “When I paid off the mortgage!”; “When I get a promotion.”; “When I reach the age of retirement, I shall live happily ever after!” Sooner or later, we must realize there is no station, no one place to arrive at once and for all. The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us. “Relish(享受)the moment” is a good motto, especially when coupled with Psalm 180: 24: “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” It isn’t the burdens of today that drive men mad, it is the regrets over yesterday and fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today. So stop pacing the aisles and counting the miles. Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less. Life must be lived as we go along. The station will e soon enough.

网友回答

(答案→)A (long) trip.
解析:
【小题1】     A (long) trip.  根据短文内容,特别是“The true joy of life is the trip. The station is only a dream. It constantly outdistances us.”(人生真正的趣味在于旅行本身。车站只是一个梦,永远遥不可及。)故此题答案应写为:A (long) trip.
【小题2】life’s final destination  根据文中的“But uppermost in our minds is the final destination.”(然而我们心里想的最多的却是最终的目的地。)故此空格应写life’s final destination.
【小题3】the burdens of today, the regrets over yesterday and fear of tomorrow  根据短文中提到的“It isn’t the burdens of today that drive men mad, it is the regrets over yesterday and fear of tomorrow. Regret and fear are twin thieves who rob us of today.”(真正令人发疯的不是今日的负担,而是对昨日的悔恨以及对明天的恐惧。悔恨与恐惧是夺走我们今天的一对孪生窃贼。)故此空应写: the burdens of today, the regrets over yesterday and fear of tomorrow.
【小题4】     Life must be lived as we go along. / Enjoying life (as it goes along) / Enjoying each/every day of life. /Relish the moment.  根据短文最后“Instead, climb more mountains, eat more ice cream, go barefoot more often, swim more rivers, watch more sunsets, laugh more, cry less.Life must be lived as we go along. The station will e soon enough.”(相反,多爬爬山,多吃点冰淇淋,经常赤脚漫步,多在河里游游泳,多看看日落,多点欢笑哈哈,少让泪水滴答。我们必须生活下去。车站就会很快到达。)故此题答案应写为:Life must be lived as we go along. / Enjoying life (as it goes along) / Enjoying each/every day of life. /Relish the moment.
