Confucius once said teachers were the most important persons in one’s life. It is monly thought that education one receives helps to shape one’s career. In 1985, the government set aside September 10 as a special day for the teachers. On Teachers’ Day, it is the custom for the students to send cards to their beloved teachers, on which they write their greetings and best wishes. Some students send their teachers small gifts such as a bunch of flowers or a notebook. In China, people from all walks of life show their respect for teachers on Teachers’ Day.
