This three-hour film with a budget that surpassed $200 million has won the “Oscar for Achievement in Sound Mixing” at the 78th annual Academy Awards, held in Hollywood on March 5th. “ King Kong ” is a love story between the beauty and the beast. In 1933, a vaudeville actress Ann Darrow is suddenly out of work during the worst of the Great Depression. One day, her hunger drives her to try to steal an apple from a fruit stall. Luckily she is rescued by filmmaker Carl Denham. To film his latest epic with Ann Darrow as the leading lady, Carl Denham brings her on an exploratory expedition to a remote island. Native warriors kidnap Ann to use as a sacrifice of Kong. But instead of devouring Ann, Kong saves her. Then she finds passion and the true meaning of humanity with an ape Kong. In quest of his fame, Carl takes Kong back to New York. Kong searches high and low for Ann, The beauty and the beast finally meet their fate back in the city. Eventually Kong winds up at the top of the Empire State Building, facing off against a fleet of World War I fighter planes which ultimately leads to catastrophe for everyone including a playwright Jack Driscoll. The emotional plot is the most selling point of this film. King Kong is a magnificent entertainment in the original classic film. Computers which approximate perfection are used not merely to create special effects, but also to create style and beauty, to find a look for the film that fits its story. However, as a high-teach film it weights the balance between special techniques and love story, which passes beyond Lord of the Rings ”, “ Jurassic Park ”, and “ Star Wars ”. Putting love into the war or disaster makes the story vivid and veritable. Love in the moving and tragic background sinks deep into the hearts of spectators. There are not any dialogues between hero and heroine in “ King Kong ”. But the hero Kong is more emotional than the beasts in Disney which can talk. It is out of imagination that Kong, a strong and insolent ape, expresses inner frailty and loneliness in front of delicate woman. At the cost of life, Kong only gets Ann’s smile, caress and tears. On the roof of the Empire State Building, he holds Ann in his hand, “beautiful” he said, what indicates his beloved. At the ing of his death, he makes all spectators buried in sadness. Every man has his faults. There are still some incoherent and unreasonable points in the film. To tell the truth, I was always waiting Carl to die from the beginning to the end. However, the finale does not turn out as my wish, and Carl as a holder of edacity and hypocrisy gains both fame and wealth, lives in the peace unexpectedly. On the plot, there are some loopholes and faultiness. The first part of this film is a little superfluous, can not keep up the pace of the whole story. And the affection of Jack and Ann develops too rapid so that Jack’s dedication has on foundation. At the end, Kong, a gigantic ape, falls from the Empire State Building down on the ground without any hollow senselessly. Although King Kong with rising ticket office is made on an unprecedented scale, it still puts particular stress on merce. “ King Kong ” is a hugely enjoyable, eye-popping movie.
