【答案】 如果是说两者在表达‘learn’这个意思上的区别的话：
cram (LEARN) vi. 意为to try to learn a lot very quickly before an exam,也就是汉语‘临时抱佛脚’的意思,但并没有贬义:
例句：She's cramming for her history exam.她正为历史考试临时抱佛脚.
而rote本身不能单独表达意思,至少在我参考的这本词典中没有,只有rote learning或learn sth by rote这两个词组,均含有贬义,意为learning something in order to be able to repeat it from memory, rather than in order to understand it,即不断重复以记住知识点的学习方式,而非理解后再记忆的学习方式：
She learned the equations by rote.她把这些方程式死记硬背住.
